International Women’s Day Exhibit at Artcade
March 2022 - For International Women’s Day, Fred Segal is presenting a lineup of striking women-centered NFTs, created by female artists, in their Artcade gallery. Each piece has a QR code that directs shoppers through a portal site and to the individual listings on various marketplaces.
A partnership between the clothing retailer and Meta-experience programmers Subnation, #Artcade presents NFTs in a collage of screens, uniquely mixed with shelves of collectibles and books. The result suggests interesting and fluid connections between the physical and digital. The initiative at Fred Segal’s Hollywood location seeks to reimagine the shopping experience as the industry rapidly evolves.
Russo-Ukrainian War Protest, Studio City
Members of LA’s Ukrainian and Russian communities protest against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
Los Angeles, CA - At Andrei Sakharov Square, members of LA’s Ukrainian and Russian communities demonstrated against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Hours earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered an attack on the sovereign nation-- drawing condemnation from people across the globe, including many Russians.
Here in Studio City, a young man burned the Russian flag in protest of his homeland’s actions. The intersection on Ventura Boulevard was a fitting location for the demonstration, dedicated in 1991 to Sakharov (1921-1989), a beloved Russian nuclear physicist and peace advocate.
BAYC Mural in LA
South Central Los Angeles - Kiki (aka Bored Ape Yacht Club #5273), a Bored Ape with bright pink hair, appears as an eye-catching mural on the wall of a building in Los Angeles.
Just off Washington Boulevard, the mural was a collaboration between popular street artists Rich Uno/NASA Crew and Kiki’s owner, @TopShotSwickie, who has expanded BAYC ownership into an extension of her personal brand. Since purchasing the NFT, Swickie has developed a backstory for Kiki and arranged multiple irl appearances— the ape has appeared in galleries across the world and even a merch collaboration with Crooks n Castles’ Dee Calvero.
ART & NFT: The Digital Roots at Frieze LA

The art fair featured an expanded lineup of NFTs this year, hosting a two day exhibition from VerticalCryptoArt, Rarible and Whitewall. The pop-up exhibit took over a large atrium at Hollywood workspace/cultural center NeueHouse, projecting the art on a monumental scale. Lounge areas allowed for time to linger under the light of the NFT collection.
Artists featured included: Ania Catherine & Dejha Ti, Brendan Dawes, Henrik Uldalen, Ivona Tau, Jesse Draxler, Joëlle, Lucas Aguirre, Maria Gudjohnsen, Mario Klingermann, Marjan Moghaddam, Miss Al Simpson, neurocolor, Nicole Rugierro, Pindar, Robness, Sam J, Kate the Cursed, Sofia Crespo and Yinka Ilori.
ART & NFTs was part of Frieze LA, an international contemporary art fair, which also included talks from pioneering NFT artists and galleries. All work presented was minted on the energy-efficient blockchain tezos through VerticalCrypto and Rarible.
Rams Fans Celebrate Super Bowl Win
Inglewood, CA, - Just after the 2022 Super Bowl, fans celebrated the L.A. Rams' victory, shutting down an intersection across from Inglewood's Sofi Stadium. People danced, livestreamed, and cheered, chanting the call-and-repeat rallying cry "Whose House? Rams' House!" Music was provided by the crew from Snoop Dogg's new clothing store, which had just opened in a nearby shopping center ( the same day as the rapper's halftime performance! )
Gateway to Super Bowl LVI
Inglewood, CA - Above the bright red entrance gates of Super Bowl LVI, an Air Force flyover passed SoFi Stadium and the football fans arriving and mingling below.
Home team the Los Angeles Rams made it to the championship game, drawing fans from across the city, decked out in their favorite player's jerseys. The true-to-form LA crowd also had performers, vendors and costumes included in the mix.
A few hours after this scene, the Rams had scored a last minute win against the Cincinnati Bengals for a true 'Hollywood Ending', the first for an L.A.-based team since 1951.
The flyover celebrated the 75th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force and included a P-51 Mustang prop plane, F-35 Lighting, , A-10C Thunderbolt II, F-16 Falcon and F-22A Raptor.
Coinbase Camp NFT Gallery at Rolling Stone Live
NFT Art took the spotlight in the Coinbase Camp gallery.
Hollywood, CA - Crypto exchange Coinbase partnered with Rolling Stone Live to promote NFT art, as the magazine’s Super Bowl party returned for 2022. The front lounge of the venue-- Academy LA in Hollywood-- was transformed into Coinbase Camp, centered around an NFT gallery.
On display was a series featuring the work of 12 notable artists, rotating on a series of bright, high-definition screens. The same pieces were also combined into an exclusive NFT that was airdropped to attendees, with an animated version on the way to Coinbase later in the year. Art and Artists included: Betty/Deadfellaz, Elise Swopes, Boss Beauties, Domino, MarktheHabibi, Kideight, Emonee LaRussa, Jeff Manning, Giant Swan, MikeGrillMadeIt, Alida Sun, and Mr. Goldie.
The popular space off the main floor allowed attendees a spot to chill and conversate while viewing the art, and also included a 'make-your-own Rolling Stone cover' photo booth, an open bar and a Coinbase desk offering information and custom merch.
Solana Hacker House LA
Hollywood, CA - Solana's World Tour made its first stop in Los Angeles on February 1-5, offering a place to work and learn aside others, as well as industry panels and mentorship opportunities. In the main room, beneath a giant screen, NFT developers network amid rows of monitors and lounges with whiteboards and refreshments.
In the FTX Gallery , NFTs were displayed on a circle of large, bright TVs. Turned sideways to accommodate 1:1 art, the screens displayed paintings, illustration, and photography on rotation, as well as an avatar and bio for each image's creator.
